First time hints for parents.
Shop with your scout on Aldis.com , they tend to have the lowest prices with the right sizes for their patrol. Once you get the list, physically take your scout to Aldis. Yes, this is a painful process. Yes, they take forever. THIS IS HOW THEY LEARN. Please do not do this for them. Write down the prices as you go and add it up. They are typically pleasantly surprised they have a few bucks left over to get a treat for their patrol!
Teach the scout about price/unit versus just cheapest. This is actually a REALLY great learning tool!!
Consider prep cooking ahead of time. Perhaps, have the scout cook everything 2-3 days ahead of time and test it out on you. Yeah! You don't have to cook!!
Make a list of the utensils needed.
Take a breath - no kid will starve in 2 days :D
