TROOP REPORT/RECAP
We arrived at Bashore scout reservation on a hot day foreshadowing later on in the week. Our Guides showed us around camp and then to our campsite.
On the Second day it rained and thundered causing many water sports to be delayed, and I regretted not bringing a rain jacket. The storm stopped at 2 pm and the day resumed.
The third day was much nicer outside but there was a bit of rain. Today was TACO TUESDAY!!
The fourth day was beautiful. In the shadows of the lake house, Staffemon started brewing.
The fifth day was hot, so hot in fact sugary drinks were banned. Staffemon was unleashed upon scout camp and everyone wanted them.
The sixth day was also hot and the sugary drinks ban continued. Most people today were collecting staff cards and saying goodbye, because today was the last real day at camp. We held our closing ceremony in the cafeteria and said our goodbyes.
Seventh day rained of course. we left and stopped at a Sheetz.
I hope this gives you an idea of what scout camp was this year or helps you remember your own memories at camp. Thank you for listening and Thank you for all the scouts that joined us this year at Camp Bashore.
Troop Report
We started the trip off by packing all our bags, equipment and food into a Trailer and rode off to camp. Everyone started to set up their tents. personally our patrol found out why you check the tent before, as we were greeted with a very sandy tent. The troop didn’t take long to go to bed. The second day we woke up to a hot day. Once it came time to go to the Quarry we drove the kayaks over then carried them up a steep hill and into a small crevice that was the entrance to the cave. Once we got inside the cool cold cave we took a bit figuring out whose kayak was whos before splitting into groups of patrols and kayaking the cave. The cave had 3 large bodies of water to kayak. The water was extremely clear and it was really cool when the lights went out and the glow of the glow sticks illuminated the cave. After we left the cold cave to the very not cold outside we carried the kayaks down and went back to the campsite. The scouts played games and drank the suspiciously yellow water before heading to bed. The next morning was fairly quick as we cleaned up and headed out.
Thank you for Listening to this :)

Scouts got the option if they had any gear to go skating which was really fun and we did orienteering which took a long time. all the scouts had many opportunities to rank up or just achieve.
At the Lake Anna campout, we rented two pontoon boats and tubed across the whole lake. We has some pit stops at the gas station where we got free popsicles and made some duck friends.
Troop Report/Recap
This year, summer camp will be at Camp Freedom @ Heritage Reservation, 300 Heritage Road, Farmington, PA 15437, from June 30 - July 6. This was another great experience, with over 50 merit badge offerings, a first-year camper program, and an older Scout adventure program.
Sunday : The councilors showed us around and then we attended the opening campfire where we got to meet some of the staff.
Monday This is the scouts first day to work on their merit badges and attend their classes. Our older scouts attended an adventure program whist our younger ones enjoyed an afternoon with open aquatics.
Tuesday: Scouts continued their merit badges and enjoyed another afternoon of open aquatics and shooting sports. However, the older scouts were still off enjoying their ATVs, Whitewater rafting, Caving, Shooting clays, and more.
Wednesday: Scouts got their new merit badge classes and had an amazing time at the aqua carnival after a day of new badges.
Thursday: Scouts continued their new merit badges and had a great time eating peach cobbler and deep fried Oreos at a festival for 4th of July and finished up anything they had to do for merit badges
Friday: Merit badges were all done and scouts were ready to take the day to relax. However, some scouts chose to complete the 5 mile hike with challenges around the lake called the Courage Quest. A specific patrol called the Paw Patrol decided it would be a great idea to run the whole thing. It was tiring and not suggested, but it ended up being an award winning idea. On the other side of the lake, Sydney and Natalie took on the challenge of completing the one mile swim. Although it was tough, they both ended up finishing the mile in the middle of the lake.
P.S. Natalie was putting tinsel in everyone's hair throughout the entire week
On November 15th-17th our scouts will be practicing their wilderness survival skills and if they choose sleeping in hammocks outside. Beware as the weather shifts into more wintery times it will get colder so please check the list of suggested items to bring for the cold weather. This campout will be lead by Nick Carr and Nick Cabral. Are you ready campers cause like always this will be fun!
